Micro adventures in the macro World
Discover the best of Budapest or Lake Balaton in a cute & classic micro van (kei car) with huge panorama windows and roof!
What is a kei car?
Super mini & super cute
The phrase ‘Kei Car’ refers to a ‘light automobile’, it is essentially the smallest highway-legal passenger car available in Japan. Indeed, these are the smallest street-legal passenger cars, vans, and trucks that you can buy in Japan.
The kei category was created by the Japanese government in 1949, and the regulations have been revised several times since. These regulations specify a maximum vehicle size, engine capacity, and power output, so that owners may enjoy both tax and insurance benefits.
Kei cars have become very successful in Japan nowadays, consisting of over one-third of domestic new-car sales. Kei cars are quite rare in Europe, altough there is an increasing demand for affordable, easy-to-maintain and fuel efficient cars.
Meet Subi, the Subaru Libero
Our classic 1996 Subaru Libero 4×4 is less than 2 m high, and 3.4 m long but still very roomy inside thanks to the huge glass roof what gives the van a funky look outside but really makes the interior pop. The windows make the van feel so open and airy that you could forget that you’re in something only slightly larger than a Smart Fortwo.
